This week's recap, highlights of Nat and Kris's 22
It was a pretty intense week. Mon was spent with tuition and Shang's mum. It was a nice lunch at Ding tai fung that lasted for 4 hours? HAHA! Yes, I guess we do have a lot to talk about. It was a good feeling to speak to someone who is not your age and not your relative. Just surprised that despite different backgrounds, conversation can still be so invigorating. Shang's mum is right, the more varied the background, the more interesting the conversation. I'm not inclined to share all of my friend's secrets, but certainly, I can tell that she's proud of her daughter nonetheless and cares very much for her - despite words to the contrary. HAHA! This makes me wonder, what kind of mum I'll be in the future.
Tue was spent with Xinglin and Guanyu at a Chicken Rice Lunch at her house. The chicken rice is really cheap and good! Ok, the real reason why I'm there is actually to borrow her lugguage. After lunch, I went to buy the beancurd tarts from her house that taste so nice! The beancurd custard was so soft and *wobbly*….So Xinglin dropped us off at Novena and I went to a money changer to change $ into £ which made my heart ached a little. I was an impromptu decision because the rate was pretty good. Walked around Novena with Guanyu to find her printer ink and chanced upon this shop called the Chocolate Factory. I've heard of it, but never got to see. So the 2 chocoholics went to explore and found that they stock up Barcelonian chocolates. It was VERY interesting since we all know that good chocolates come from Switzerland, but not many know that Barcelona makes very good dark chocolates and the whole boutique chocolate shop actually came from there. Certainly something to look forward to in Barcelona!
Wednesday was intense tuition and my last lesson for this month until after my trip. My students, have many questions, and some of them quite worrying. Ultimately, I think they'll manage without me. *must have faith*. Slept really early at 9pm because I was just exhausted from the whole week. I know, this is nothing compared to the rest of my friends who were/are working.
Thursday was pretty much lost in cupcake making. I was quite upset at myself for forgetting to buy a thermometer to make the sugar for the buttercream and the sugar artwork. *bangs head on wall*. I can't make sugar artwork without a thermometer and I had to guess the temperature of the caramel with my fingers (ouch much) and see if it's 120 degrees celcius. So cross with myself. In addition, my very lousy oven made the cupcakes rock hard. AGAIN. Seriously, I definitely must get a better oven next year. That's my next New Year's Resolution.
Friday was spent traveling 3 hours to and fro to NUS to hand in a stupid module conversion form. I don't know if this is the dean's office of trying to discourage people to perform unnecessary admin stuff, but it's definitely pissing me off. The entire time I was trying to tell myself not to think about it so much so I won't get very angry. So after dropping off the form, I dropped by my aunt's and uncle's place to see my grandma and return them the container (since CNY) they lent us along with delicious curry. Had impromptu lunch at my aunt's and ate my grandma's green bean soup. She added rice into green bean soup which was pretty interesting. Made the soup taste quite wholesome. It was her way of getting rid of 'old rice'. HAHA! Ingenious.
Later Xinyi came over to help me paint nails! HAHA..now my nails are a pretty shade of light matt pink. They look more girly than usual and the very insecure me just kept doubting the choice. I might take them off on Mon =X who knows? After that, we rushed down to Bugis to meet 222 for Kris's and Nat's birthday celebration at Ah loy thai since the girls like thai food. It was a flurry of "I must show you something!" and all the presents started flying around BEFORE I could even order. I kinda zoned out and started ordering for everyone. Turned out I ordered too many and we couldn't finish =( so we walked around Shaw Towers and went to the knick-knacks shop to look for the $1 shell rings. We found it and Beryl wanted to buy, on the other side, Van, Xinyi and Nat were going mad over the animal pens that only cost $1.20. I found Hersey's lip gloss and it was so yummy! Tempted to buy. So while I was shopping around, Beryl bought me a ring! Awww~ I like the rings but I felt that my hands were too stubby and it'll make the ring look bad…so Beryl bought it for me =) now I'll wear it to London! <3 222
Oh right, there was something quite poignant yesterday. As we going towards the MRT station to head home, the clock in the Mrt station clocked in at 10:22pm. If you take it in 24hours, it's 22:22. So we're going home after celebrating Nat's and Kris's 22 birthday on the 22:22 hour. So nice.
2 is my favourite number.
(p.s. wrote kris's card in Chinese and I was sure that she'll scream at me for it. HAHAHA!)
So saturday is going to be spent packing, doing laundry in time for Mon and arguing with my dad. Yes, arguing because he'll have his own opinions about what I should bring, and I'll have my own opinions of what I want to bring. He already complains that my lugguage is excessively big - and I'm complaining that he complains too much. Zzzz….fathers.
Ok…so tomorrow will be brunch at food for thought with Chris just before we fly and more packing =D
