Year of the Rabbit (CNY2011)

This year's CNY is more fun that the previous years because I guess there's no need to pretend to like your relatives. I sincerely felt that last time, I preferred my first day to the second. However, there's always a sense of hypocrisy because I'm really just there for the food.

It started with CNY eve, when I had to drag my body down for a tutorial at 2-4pm. It was seriously, a torturous affair given how it was going to be a long weekend and it's like you STILL had to go to school. Well, at least I had a healthy debate with Prof Ho about the boundaries of Sociology and Social/cultural Geography and a good consultation with Prof Skelton about my thesis project. So went to my dad's side to have dinner and took the opportunity to interview my grandma for lifecourse project. Found out pretty interesting things about my family and it was quite intriguing to know that both my grandparents worked in NUS until well…well, well into their golden ages. I'm not sure if that is a sign! HAHA!

So this year, it's CNY of my dad's (and I) choosing. So my first day is empty. Since I'm not visiting my mum's side anymore. So this is the second day! I'm starting to like the line-the-bottom-eye-look….because my eyes are single/double eyelid, so it's hard to make the colours on the top of my eye show on the monolid. I think the bottom lid colour works well for me…=D

Yes…i had no time to do my hair. So au naturel this year =D

So my dad's side was kinda more perky this year. I think it's because even the youngest is in Sec 1? So we're all kinda on the same page of life now. At least, most of us are. Some are studying, some NS, some working, one (my eldest cousin) was lectured by the matriarch about not having children after 4 years of marriage. It was pretty funny, because my grandma was like interrogating them both about "not knowing what is the economy now". HAHA…..but we took a family portrait with everyone and it was like a 30 min affair. Both of my uncles used to be professional photographers and they were fussing over the camera and lighting. Finally 4 precious shots were taken.

I just feel that after my mum, family is more precious now. Not because of my mum's absence, but because of what my dad's family did for me. I'm grateful that people care =)

So saturday I had the boys come over. I owe Qabir a meal for KL and since my dad's crabs are so awesome, how not to invite?! In any case, I wanted a day for myself where I can entertain and my dad was kind enough to go along with my crazy plans.

In the afternoon, the bitch came over, wandered around my house and found a moldy orange! YUCKS! It even has the imprint of my basket on it….OMG, i almost gagged and puked.

So after that around 3pm, Justin came over with books and wine glasses. I'm still trying to figure out how to carry all those to school. It's seriously 6 books and they weight like 1382458102384kg?

Someone where contacts like handsome lor! HAHAHA…so we headed to chris's house to get his mum's devil's curry for that night's dinner while sending justin off….
Then rahman and qabir came like super early 6:30? I think my dad's anal-ness for punctuality scared them slightly TOO much.
So I finally opened my bottle of wine that I received from my Japanese family back in 2005. It's dated 2003, so that makes the wine 8 years? It tasted mild and good. Just what I like =D. If Ritty was reading this would probably say I used the wrong type of glass. However, that's what Justin brought so better wrong glass than no glass? LOL!

Then came Sunday and we headed to XY's house for CNY cum housewarming. She just moved back to AMK and her house seems pretty good! I like the long long long kitchen, given how some 3 room flats have it pretty small. But yeah…we played Bridge and watched Van and Nat entertained themselves….it was all really nostalgic, just reminds me of like all the JC moments when nat and van would fool themselves, while XJ, Kris, Pop, JH, ADG or I would just randomly play dai-di.

So made it home to finally rest. It was tiring as hell oh-so-fun!

Happy Rabbit's Year everyone!
