Climate Change
NUS is starting to get on my nerves in more than 1 way. No offence to the advocates to counteract climate change...but i think setting the lecture theatres to 25 degrees just upsets me.
I think we can afford to set it to 23 degrees celcius, because if i'm not wrong, the energy used is about the same anyway. And they should make it specific...ambient temperature should be 25, not absolute temperature be at 25.
Think about it, more people in the LT, more heat, means warmer for the rest of us....how to study?
If Jialiang is not wrong, brain works best in 18 degrees....we should work towards that. Since want to save energy, then why bother to air-condition our LTs at all? Go back to fan lah!
haiz....so unnecessary...like a recent news article partly attributed Singapore's temperature rise to global warming...i think they should present more data before suggesting something like that. Singapore so small! Look at SEA la...if the whole region is increasing, then you come and tell me about heat rise due to global warming...i think the increase in Singapore's temperature is more likely to due to urban heat island than anything else.
Meanwhile, i'm not saying that global warming is not real and we should try hard to do something about it. However, i believe in the big picture and i think actions like these are insignificant in counteracting climate change. We all know about global warming. There is no need to keep reminding us about it. If we have so much time to mobilize people to vote for LTs at 25 degrees, then please divert that time into inventing some sort of new air-con that uses liquid nitrogen or something, our atmosphere has abundance of that anyway and they have little use.
Haiz....less useless talk and more useful action. Cheerios to those who have taken the effort in spreading the message. My point here is to make it more meaningful. Maybe air-con is something i take personally because Singapore is just too damn hot and humid.
Having said that, i do seriously think printing on both sides of the paper is a great idea...
