Failure is always an option - Mythbusters
This month's reader's digest made me think about some...
In the article "Bounce Back", which is all about failure, there is a quotation from the article regarding Rowling's speech to a Harvard audience which goes:
[JK Rowling] didn't focus on success. Instead, she spoke about failure. She related a story about a young woman who gave up her dream of writing novels to study something more practical.....But during rock bottom time, she realised she still had a wonderfull daugther, an old typewriter and an idea that would beome the foundation for rebuilding her life."You may never fail on the scale i did, But it is impossible to live withut failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have live at all - in which case, you fail by default. You will never truly know yourself or the strength of your relationships until both have been tested by adversity Such knowledge is a true gift, for it is painfully won, and it has been worth more to me than any qualification I ever earned."WOW....
I don't know...the words in bold struck a chord in me partly because it's so close to heart.
Now after reading the article, I now know that failing brings life's lessons - literally. Failing builds neuron connections which happens during learning also. Interesting eh...maybe out forebears knew this already....
Failure is something i have a hard time embracing well. Be it my ego, my pride, my prejudice...but now, i think i'll have a different outlook on failure. Like what they say on Mythbusters, "
Failure is always an option."But that doesn't mean i won't be heading towards Imperial...HAHAHA...i've "failed" to do that in 2008, i've learnt my lesson (forgive the pun) and i'm gonna make it happen this year...
the figures look promising =)
