day at the museum!
XY and I went to national museum 2 days ago...

So we started with the Christian Lacroix (pronounced Ckhris-tan La-kwa, he's french) exhibition with our lovely french guide...=) She was telling about his inspirations and work. The different costumes on display were from opera, revue (short plays) and plays as one is even from a music performance. It was fascinating and Lacroix actually designed the exhibitions themselves here in Singapore. It's amazing. There's a costume that is actually made of paper!
But in any case, we came across this sketch of his and it was erm...yah, i can't imagine the actress wearing this on stage with her tits baring through the laces. Abit like bondange eh? If i'm not wrong, this is for Othello?
So...the rest of the pictures are upside down...so please scroll your way down and read upwards k? Paiseh!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XY standing on the entrance stairs to the upper galleries!
We both love the lighting in the museum...it's really great for picture taking. We even caught a 2 brides at the museum taking pictures!
Yeap! It was a great day! HAHAHA...we're going Asian Civilisation Museum next for the Kang Xi Exhibit...Thanks cindy for the lobang!
So lastly, some pictures just before we left...the stacks of tanks that i'm "showcasing" here is called Love Tank...It's really adorable. The cannon opening is actually a heart shape too!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought that the windows in the Museum were great to take an emo pic...HAHAHA and so we did. I like XY's one...she looks so innocent...like little girl liddat
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I actually wanted to just take a random pic across the railings, but the camera and my face so zhun, my eyes were right in the middle of the space with the flora covering my lips...HAHAHA!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So some random pics we took while exploring the museum!
XY on the long long escalator!
I've always wanted to take a pic with this winding stairs....There were 2 caucasian kids before us also....HAHAHA, XY say the husband looked younger than the wife...i was like *whispers* "No la! u blind arh!"
------------------------------------
The National Anthem score for Piano penned by Zubir Said himself....=)
--------------------------------------

And a retro fan!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

And this is the "normal" looking one...can't imagine TV those days were so teeny! Now we have like what 46" ones? Things are always growing bigger with time...i wonder why too
-------------------------------------

So later, we head to the History Gallery and at the end of our "journey" through Singapore, we saw the old stuff from the the 80s. This one showed is actually a TV...DAMN FUTURISTIC RIGHT?i bet you actually thought it's from the Panton collection....HAHAHA
-----------------------------------------

This is called the living tower...it's actually a chair where u can sit and so versatile, i didn't know how to in the first place. Another amazing exhibit.
----------------------------------------

Contrary to how it looks, this chair actually is very comfortable. When i sit on the floor, i always wonder why no one bothered to design a high back chair...apparently, Panton did!
-------------------------------------

An old radio box converted into a coffee table. The nobs are the stations and volume
------------------------------------------
This is the chair....it's very Ikea hor! But in any case, i've seen these buggers somewhere before...yeah, so versatile, you can do loads of stuff on it. even undressing for your husband....
---------------------------------------------

Erm...for those who can't see the words, it says "How to undress in front of your husband" using Panton's chair showed above....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I forgot what this one is called, but it's like a flower no? OH YAH! i remember, petal chair...HAHAHA so apt!
-------------------------------
So later, XY and I hopped to the next exhibition which is Verner Panton. I take it he's somewhat of a furniture designer. Hahaha i have no idea...but anyway, the furniture on display was phenomenal and super creative...
like this heart-shaped cone chair as it's called...they had a wall which showed a room filled with these chair and i must say, the chairs themselves made the room look great. No additional furnishings required...HAHAHA...CUTE!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Another of his beautiful sketches...he uses water colour and writes detailed instructions on them. This is a rare sketch because Lacroix disliked white. Yet this particular outfit for a Maid is actually largely white...In any case, this is one of the best maid costumes i've ever seen on paper. In any case, Lacroix's sketches and actual outfits are very close. Sometimes, designers draw their vision, but the end product is something very different in "feel"....Lacroix doesn't feel that way =)
I'm gonna get his shoes next...HAHAHA oh yah, folks next time you're on Air France, notice the uniforms. It's designed by him too!
