Finally - Change
Today, i smsed Mr. David, "Congratulations! Your twin brother won the election!"
He had a sense of humour by replyig, "thanks, hehehe"
Mr. David and "hehehe" don't seem to go together man...
I was not surprised that Obama won the election. I was worried that he did not win, but i wasn't surprised that he won. Come on man, that man has vision and the balls to prove it....i admire his spirit and goals. Although i do feel his the policies are a little worrying...*looks at financial crisis*
I feel humans take forever to learn their mistakes because like it or not, we are too arrogant to admit that we need change. Took America circa 100 years to free the slaves, and 200+ years to elect an African-American president (in that proportion...ha ha ha) into the White House.
I wonder how long it'll take Singapore to liberalise its politics. LOL
This week's history lecture was on World War 2 and my Lecturer said something like this,
"Don't ask me why we have war, we are humans. We're competitive by nature, if you want answers to that you should ask sociology or anthropology. No, the question you should ask me is, 'Why THIS war?' Why THAT time?'"
I had goosebumps.
Anyway, he pointed out the similarities between the causes of World war 2 and today.
"The Great Depression was caused by flagging credit and the failing of the American Banks with declining consumer expectations....doesn't that sound familar to you guys?"
He was referring to the present financial crisis.
My goosebumps grew tenfold.
(I was just taking about war and the *cough cough* of NS to Xmas the day before)
DAMN history and the repeat of it.
ANYWAY - we need change. For goodness sakes man....the "Mcworld" shit should be stopped at politics. Mcdonalds, I'm ok. Mackintosh, I welcome. Macain? AH....give me a break. Hail Globalisation.
I wondered why i didn't take history and geog together. AH, now just recalled: YJC didn't permit. (hear the sarcasm?)Now don't get me started on the topic of education.
Anyway, it's never too late to start to appreciate history...i have always loved the subject, hated the exam...
Today is history in the making.
HAHAHA...if i were american, i'll vote Obama just for the heck of it. Even if he is rubbish and all....Just so that my children, and not grandchildren, can read it in the history books.
