interesting sights....
it was a rather interesting day today....besides the side fact that i'm totally drained.
i was doing my socio notes and was planning to read up on history and geog...then cathleen gave me a more interesting proposition - book hunting!
yay! So at that note, i finished up my socio, abandoned history and read geog while i'm travelling...heehee...the book hunting and shopping trip was fun! mostly because i bought a new pair of shoes. Finally a pair of butter golden shoes which sparkling sequins! hahahahaha
so, while i was travelling down to orchard to meet cathleen, a woman was reading sanskrit beside me. it was strips of paper stapled together at the center. The thing that fascinated me was that she was reading very fast. Likereallyreallyreallyfastkindoffast. get the idea?
When i exited the train, i was asking myself - why am i studying to drive man.
*looks at BTT book*
*tosses it aside....*
(after remembering that it belongs to nat...)
*dusts book and keeps into bag*
Then Cathleen and i went to kinokuniya to get Eclipse - the 3rd sequel to Twilight. Anyway, i was passing by this dedicated section for Obama and Macain books. It amused me - how US elections affect the rest of the world unlike any other countries. I mean, you don't see PAP going to USA to advertise their elections right? The fact the the presidential elections of US is so globalised is implicitly tells us how powerful US still is in influencing many of parts of the world.
And then, some author decided to ride on Thomas Friedman's "The World is Flat" and come up with a book called "The World is Curved". I didn't stop to read what the book was about, but my guess is to counteract Friedman's arguments on Globalisation?
Then again, why am i talking so much about Globalisation? Hahahaha...It's because that is the basis of my Geog in NUS, the other is that I personally find globalisation fascinating. I'm currently reading this book called The Lexus and the Olive Tree also by Friedman. Love the read so far....hahahahaha, maybe i can share it with my students =)
Actually, there's more i want to write about this, but i tot maybe you, dear reader, may become bored and i'll probably not do the book justice anyway.
Sometimes, i cry in my heart when people say, "my god, you read these kind of books. Not boring meh?" I think it's really a pity because there are so much information packed in a good current affairs book. Although i'm not saying that we must read it 365 24/7, but occassionally, at least once a few years, we should have a grasp on what direction we're heading towards and be somehow prepared for it. I cannot stress enough the importance of planning for the worse a head and hoping for the best that can come from planning.
i dunno..taking things easy means planning for the future so that you can rest easy now and thoroughly enjoy life little things in peace. Heehee....then again, some people may feel i take things too seriously too. Perhaps my mum drilled into me a long time ago about planning ahead and being serious about your future, so it's impossible for me to sit back and "relax".
Go ahead, grab a story book. Read the story of our World and you'll have to take my word for it that it is more interesting than any drama some authors can come up with.
Life is stranger than fiction.
