it is interesting to read the written words of stand-up comedians, like taking in the ironies, paradoxes, indiosyncrycies of their personal style. some like to talk about family, others plainly on women and there are some who dare to talk about bigger universal truths - or in their case, untruths.
it's a "safe" channel for people with burning opinions to air them. not to mention to make an audience laugh in the process too. i keep wondering how those people can have such an eye for normal everyday things. like shopping can be an item of funny...rape can be an item of funny althought it's also a matter of which right buttons to push.
but i just admire these people and their ability to make us laugh and think at the same time.
i would want to sit in for a performance one day...live action is always better than youtube. =)

oh yah kris....since you brought up the topic of humane killing, i tot u might want to know this (although it's a bit sad) - dog lovers beware
i recently saw an episode of oprah and it was to commemorate her dog sophie who had died. the episode was about dog breeding in america and how ghastly it was done.
female dogs in the dog mill are made to give birth litter after litter for puppies for sale to pet shops. every time she's in the "heat", they would mate her. so imagine, some dogs come into heat once every 2 years, and that translates into 2 litters every year. it is big profit to the dog millers.
these dogs do not have room to run, they do not eat well and they are not groomed. they are kept in small cages barely big enough for them to stand in. they live in their own poo and urine. some of the long-haired breeds have hair so matted that some of the dogs cannot even see what's ahead of them. so female dogs have nursed so much that their nipples are swollen and engorged. it's very very sad that some of these dogs never knew how to walk. to keep them from barking, some dog millers shove pieces of tube down their throat. some of the dogs are kept outside, even when it is -15 degrees. many dogs freeze to death like this and the dog millers don't give a damn. because they can always replace another the dead dog's daughter. when they cannot produce anymore litters, these dogs are shot.
yet on the other hand, as much as 50 dogs a day are brought to dog shelters and due to the alarming space constraints, these dogs have to be euthanised - everyday- and be dumped in black trash bags to be shuttled off to landfills.
everyday, 4 dogs are adopted. 46 dogs are put down.
if there is so much demand such that dog millers have churn out dogs to petshops like these, then why are so many also landing up in shelters?
it's really sad.....and maybe when i want to have a dog, perhaps i want to get one from a shelter first.by the by, in my opinion, these dog millers ought to be shot. these people WONDER what the big hoo-ha is all about saving these dogs and they mock the person who comes and save the dogs that are no longer "useful" to them.
