well...being the perfectionist, i still think i could have done better. for instance, stop talking to the board too often. i realise i have a habit of injecting totally random, unrelated stuff into the classroom. like...
"Okay, so what are the processes of weathering? Carbonation...good, what else? Hydrolyisis...good...oh man, i'm thirsty, anyone don't mind sharing your water with me...uh huh...hydration..."
hahaha....it kinda pissed darren off because i tend to do that more in his class. i mean you know why right? *winks*
so yeah...mdm aisha's coming back this wednesday, so technically, tomorrow's my last day.
and i'm seriously running out of things to teach them. like SERIOUSLY.
how much can you teach for lithosphere?
but i kind of hate myself for the few glitches because of my rusty memory. for instance, i forgot that transform plate boundary is between oceanic-continental. but i intelligently told 2 classes that it's continental continental. so smart right?
-.-"
it was nice....today, one of the class told me that " 'cher, u don't go NUS la...come back and teach us." and another student told me "you'll make a good teacher....you want to be teacher?"
Do i want to be a teacher? I feel unprepared - not because i don't go NIE - because i feel that i haven't experienced the field enough to be able to teach it.
like i said, i don't want to just pass on knowledge, i want to pass on experiences.
why do you need a teacher if he/she just passes on knowledge?
i can get knowledge, but experience is not something you can get in books.
inspire, be a teacher....personally, i don't think i can inspire much when i'm not inspired myself. like mdm selvi said, she loved human geog and she feels enthused to teach it as compare to physical geog. - it shows.
Human beings have only just started studying the earth a century ago. During Alfred Wegener's time, they didn't have things like "Geology" or "Geography"....and that is ironic because they earth was here longer than us. it only makes sense that we study the ground we're standing on FIRST before reaching to the stars right?
interestingly, human beings always look up first before they look down.like how we bow down to pray upwards?
teacher....i want to experience life before i start that career. in my opinion, i don't want to be taught by someone who is not comfortable in life, not experienced what he/she is teaching and not appreciative of what is learnt. Unless an NIE cert encompasses those 3, i don't want my students to subject themselves to this injustice done to them in terms of education.
and yes....students should be able to challenge their teacher's marking. why? so that they can learn and understand what goes into the scripts and comprehend why they are not given that mark. if that communication pathway is not opened, students (like me) will lament and wonder why teachers "undermark" us. in fact, it may be a mistake only our teachers know and we will never discover it.
i learnt to learn from these 2 short weeks....i learnt to love learning again.
and i yearn eagerly for the day that i can study geology.
i want to be a teacher - after i hit my 30s....
