Continuation

Continuation

So sue me if i made a wrong deduction....all that negativity in the class now can just drive some people over the edge.

it seems like today's group study didn't work out too well...seems like everyone prefers to go home instead....oh wellz, better study at home then, with all the distractions and hot milo whenever you needed it.

oh yah!~ it feels damn good to be able to feed your fellow classmates. no wonder i love food.

lolz

so yah......on my way home was reading the alkene notes and half of the time i didn't understand what the processes were....better ask help from mr lim soon

i won't admit defeat until the A monsters are over....they are only one part of a bigger picture and sometimes taking things easy can make everything look much better.

for example....spreading your essays in 2 days before the hand-in date rather than handing in last minute work

for example....asking for help soon after you know you need it

for example....not putting off promies you have chose to keep

for example....to take care of your fellow classmates in these difficult times.

__________________________________________

i'm not going to imply anything here, but there's something seriously wrong going on in our class.

like~ the atmosphere and everything.

true, everyone has their own right to study and most often than not, we push ourselves very hard.

i'm also guilty of pushing for what i want....sometimes too hard that it offends people...

from this show called Homeless to Harvard, there's this homeless girl who works against odds to attend a private school opened by a very special teacher and wins herself a scholarship to Harvard. there is no difference who you are~ whether you're a YJ student, or from RJ, because ultimately, success is determined on whether you get what you really want in life.

she mentioned that ," what if i go crazy and start to give it my all, and see where it takes me"...since she is homeless and there is nothing beyond that, she has nothing to lose.

shouldn't be education be like that? to be doors of opportunity, to help dictate your own choice of destiny?

but why are people taking this the wrong WAY?

FOR EXAMPLE.....

to constantly compete with others in your results

to constantly keep check if others are doing better than you

to keep in mind the progress of other people's revision and that you must always be one step ahead of them.

let me translate it in NORMAL academia terms for you

to constantly compete with others in your results

translates to: to cross check with yuor classmates (tactfully) to see where you stand. if you are lagging very much behind, then perhaps this test may be a wake-up call for those who are slacking to start working.

to constantly keep check if others are doing better than you

translates to: to be concerned for your classmates if some require some additional help when you can offer. but NOT used for keeping check of where you are. if you really want to compare standards, then compare (at a distance) objectively across the level using percentiles and rank placings.

to keep in mind the progress of other people's revision and that you must always be one step ahead of them.

translates to: in my context, that is totally unecessary. because different people start differently and have different study methods. the visual number of "different" in the above sentence just states how impossible it is to track the progress. if you had any sense at all....asking someone how they're revision is ,can be a sensitive question...

there are many ways to study for exams. and many ways to flunk it.

soem choices are made purely through habit or in another sense, something which we are familar with- like putting off homework to the last minute.

because it's familar and we're comfortable with it, we stick to it and it becomes a habit.

Try - one day just impulsively grab some chemistry and start doing the tutorials way before-hand, you never know what might just happen.

Try - one day, just break that emotional barrier and ask for help and you never know what might just happen.

Try - to not compete with others and give sound advice than the normal rubbish, and You never know what might just happen.
